resume from hibernate on arch

After freshly install arch, I cannot resume from hibernate although can resume standby and  hibernate process is success without error in pm-suspend log file.

And today, after read  wiki with so careful and some trying, I found the solution to solve it:

– with Grub2 : must add resume=/dev/disk/by-uuid/<uuid of swap partition> to option in: “/boot/grub/grub.cfg”.

Better, you should add it to: “/etc/default/grub” and then update grub by command: sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg’

or add the line:

alias update-grub=’sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg’

to .bashrc, then simple run update-grub.

Note: don’t use resume=/dev/sdaX because grub2 disable /dev/sdXY by default, or you can use this option with enable /dev/sdXY in grub.

– Add resume to HOOKS in the file “/etc/mkinitcpio.conf”. Note: resume must be before filesystems and after base, udev.

Example: HOOKS=”base udev autodetect pata scsi sata usbinput resume filesystems”

then, run command:

sudo mkinitcpio -p kernel26

to generate image to boot by grub.

Ok, it’s done.

use dolphin to open folder in firefox

When I installed KDE and Firefox this feature actually worked – I downloaded a file, clicked on “open containing folder”, and Dolphin would happily pop with the respective folder open.
However, when I installed a few more apps,  Firefox started calling Gwent or other app to “open the folder”.

Solution:

In the file /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache , find “inode/directory” and make “kde4-dolphin.desktop” on first such as:

inode/directory=kde4-dolphin.desktop;kde4-gwenview.desktop;kde4-kfmclient_dir.desktop;

Arch-KDE-network (temp)

I just installed Arch since 3 days ago. Arch is really great for me because it fulfill my requests: always update latest version of package, can install minimal system with the software that I want, and of course, allow full control permission.

beside, i like interface of KDE but most satified about ability control network of gnome, So, I install all of them on arch:

kdebase, networkmanager, network-manager-applet and gnome-keyring.
